"Well I guess if you want me to know 'em, we gotta do it the old fashioned way," he says cheerfully, through a few more pieces of popcorn. "No more first person perspective, just a good old three-a.m. IHOP trip."

"I suppose so," Gonou murmurs, gaze drifting down to the popcorn bowl as though he's very absorbed indeed in choosing a piece. He's not sure what IHOP is, but he's developed enough fluency in Eiffel to recognize when he's saying, You'll just have to tell me if you want me to know.

In the face of that, he'd be a liar if he stayed quiet, and not merely a coward.

"She was both my sister and my lover," he says at last, with the slightest drawing-in of his shoulders, the faintest protective gesture against the reaction he expects. Eiffel's not Jedao; Gonou seriously doubts he'll think it's swanky.

It had been an invitation, sure, but it was a standing one. He hadn't fully expected to Gonou to take it up immediately, and honestly he wouldn't have pushed it or minded.

And now he's got that, and he is aware of how much he is visibly trying not to react because he doesn't want to upset Gonou by freaking out about it but also it's his sister and he can't help but think that's kind of not okay but maybe it's like a cultural thing and Eiffel's been trying really hard to be less weird about other people's worlds when it's not outright evil like Kujen or the Eye or whatever but that's still a lot and Gonou being awkward about it probably means he knows Eiffel is going to react weirdly about it and oh god he's been overthinking this for way too long hasn't he--

He doesn't pull away from Gonou, but he does lean an elbow back on the arm of the couch to rest his head on his hand and try (and fail) to be totally normal about it. "Alright! Okay, sure, that-- she, uh- she must be... nice? 'cos, like, if Jedao is any kinda marker on your taste you like 'em kinda dangerous but really sweet??"

Gonou can't read every emotion flickering across Eiffel's face, but he can recognize that there are a lot of them.

"Between the two of us, she was the fierce one and I was the timid one," he murmurs, and folds his hands carefully together, glancing at Eiffel. "I... you can be shocked. It's all right. I only hope you're not disgusted."

"I'm not disgusted!" It comes out a bit too quickly, admittedly, but mostly because he really wants to reassure Gonou. "I'm just--"

Trying very hard not to think about the details while simultaneously wondering vaguely how much weirder this would be if he had siblings himself, and not disgusted because if he can just force that to sit in the back of his skeleton closet he can totally ignore it, it's not like it's relevant now, right?

"Look, whatever you and Kanon did, together, that's--" he waves both arms out in a big baseball 'safe' motion. "That's none of my goddamn business."

He takes a deep breath, trying to bring himself back to normal, but as he runs a hand through his hair he looks back at Gonou.

"But, uh." His voice is quieter, more genuine now. "Thanks. For... y'know, trusting me. With that."

"It was starting to feel like a lie not to tell you." He lets his voice go light and a little wry, a tone to ease the mood. Eiffel... might be a little disgusted, he thinks. But he's not insisting on it, and Gonou can be grateful for that.

"Because... if I talk about her at all, both those things are important."
