I do, though. It wasn’t you that startled me. Around that time, my father took me on a camping trip with his accomplice, a John Watkins. An uncertain amount of time before that, I found a woman in a travel trunk in our basement and my father started drugging me with chloroform. It… causes gaps in memory. Confusion. I still only have fragments of memory from that time, but I’m told that my father took me on that trip to kill me. He and Watkins argued. I have a… fuzzy memory of Watkins grabbing me by the arm. I stabbed him with my pocketknife and ran away. Was I lucid then? I don’t even know. But I was… sort of half-remembering that when you touched my shoulder. Will found me after that. I really did give him the knife at that point.
