"Not with food in your mouth, you're not," Jedao says dryly, which isn't that incriminating, right?

No look clearly this is just banter, why would it be any deeper than that?

"What, you haven't been missing my bacon-berry kisses?" Okay that was a stretch, especially since Jedao absolutely won't know that one, but he's still grinning. "Besides, shouldn't you be saving them for Gonou?"

Jedao makes a hilariously revolted face at the thought of a kiss contaminated by two different foods, regardless of the reference, reflexively scrunching his face up; it's possibly even funnier just how fast the expression melts into a dopey smitten smile at the mention of Gonou.

"I'll always have enough kisses for him," Jedao says, like an idiot.

The first face makes Eiffel snicker victoriously, but the second makes him grin right back, soft and sincerely pleased.

"We should get moving before the docs start charging rent, my hospital bill's already turning into a blood debt," he says dryly, leading the way out of the infirmary, "But I wanna hear aaaaall about you and Gonou sitting in a tree. You look like Cupid kicked your ass."

"....trees don't look comfortable to sit in," Jedao announces dubiously, getting the door for him. Not that he has any experience with trees, besides the crabapples and the island with dinosaurs.

"No, it- it's a stupid kids' jump-rope song," he explains, but he's still grinning cheekily, and he recites in the basic bouncing meter: "Jedao and Gonou sittin' in a tree, K-I-S-S-I-N-G. First comes love, then comes marriage, then comes a baby in a baby carriage."

"That seems like an unlikely progression for us," Jedao muses wryly.

"Hey, no one said it was clever, alright? Kids are mean, they'd use it to put the class losers together and make everyone tease 'em."

Says victim of said teasing. Even at six years old everyone agreed he was the bum deal.

"I'd have defended you," Jedao says, although since he was never a child, he's not really sure where the confidence comes from. "But why would that be a bad thing?"

"No, see, me saying it about you guys is ironic, cos I think you're being freakin' adorable," he corrects.

[deuceoftears]

"I get that. But why would kids think it was mean?"

He's never actually met anyone younger than Nat or Kyoko in his life.
