Well, me one-oh-one is that my dad is a serial killer. Like. A famous, prolific one that had a nickname on the news before they found out who it was. Which he still loves, because he’s a profound malignant narcissist and it makes him feel like a superhero, if superheroes slaughtered innocent people in innovative ways rather than saving them. The story doesn’t get happier from there, really.

My dad's a mine surveyor - or was, until it shut down two months after we moved to Texas, my mum's a receptionist, and I was a latchkey kid.

I do, though. It wasn’t you that startled me. Around that time, my father took me on a camping trip with his accomplice, a John Watkins. An uncertain amount of time before that, I found a woman in a travel trunk in our basement and my father started drugging me with chloroform. It… causes gaps in memory. Confusion. I still only have fragments of memory from that time, but I’m told that my father took me on that trip to kill me. He and Watkins argued. I have a… fuzzy memory of Watkins grabbing me by the arm. I stabbed him with my pocketknife and ran away. Was I lucid then? I don’t even know. But I was… sort of half-remembering that when you touched my shoulder. Will found me after that. I really did give him the knife at that point.
